REDISCOVER DOWNTOWN DANVILLE

Businesses can get boost from incubator concept
by Dana Schaumburg, DDI Executive Director

Recently, Downtown Danville Inc.'s Economic Restructuring Committee started talking about a new concept for our downtown.

That concept was using an existing business to bring in another business to share space to form a partnership that benefits both businesses. And now we have that concept working in The Java Hut, where owners Don and Marie Pribble have partnered with Madame Devore's Kitchen to be able to offer new products.

Madame DeVore's Kitchen is owned by Tracy DeVore, who prepares culinary delights including homemade confections and "comfort food." DeVore comes into the restaurant on a regular basis to do her work since she needed a commercial kitchen to work out of.

Now, The Java Hut is able to offer homemade chicken pot pies, apple cobbler, homemade fudge and other signature dishes that DeVore prepares.

"It's a win-win for both people," Marie Pribble said, explaining that it gives a person the opportunity to be known for what they do on their own and the owners can offer more items.

Pribble expects DeVore to have a fresh batch of fudge ready for sale this week just in time for Christmas so stop in at 13 N. Vermilion St. to get a piece for yourself or someone special. The restaurant can also fill tea cups with fudge and other items to make up gifts to give.
